Default Mesmer or assassin or warrior?

I just finished my necro and I was wondering what my next char should be.

I have a ritualist and a necro so I dont know were to go from here. I hear mesmers and assassins are fun but I can farm with a warrior... anyway

What are your opinions?

If you are looking for farming go with the warrior

If you want a good pvp char that is always in demand. go with the mesmer.

the assasin is good for pvp.. but its honestly not the most wanted of professions.. and as a solo farmer its almost usless when compared to the war or monk.

All three of the classes are fun to play once you get the hang of it, but the warrior is by far the easiest of the three to play. Once you get past the point where you know what you can and can't handle aggro-wise, the warrior is a piece of cake and can be an excellent addition to any party in PvE or PvP. You can absorb lots of punishment and deal a lot of damage with a good warrior.

If you're looking for something more difficult, however, I'd recommend the Mesmer or Assassin.

The Mesmer is more difficult because it isn't about dealing damage or mitigating damage like most of the other classes. In fact, there are only a small handful of mesmer builds that can be used that way. No, the Mesmer is all about disruption and interference. Mesmers specialize in slowing characters, interrupting characters, increasing casting times for enemies, and shuting off an enemy's energy and adrenaline.

Assassins are difficult because even though they are a melee-range attacker, they need to be played like a caster. If you are a monk and a warrior comes charging at you, you're not going to just stand there and take it, you need to run. Same is true for an assassin, but many people don't realize this. Once you get the feel for how to stay alive as an assassin though, they're just as fun as a damage-based warrior. And the thing is, they can do things that warriors can't, like attacking the hard to reach characters in the back ranks, without actually overextending themselves.

So it's up to you.

I've got all three. Think the assassin is the most fun, they have a great skill
set and their attack animations are get fun to watch. I haven't been able to
get into many groups because they have a bad reputation, but that'll
change in time.
Speaking of which... if you don't intend to devote some time and effort into
being a "good" assassin, maybe warrior would be a better choice. We
don't need any more people tarnishing our already battered reputation. If
you "do" have the will to be a great assassin, we sure could use some
help improving the communities attitude toward us.

I play this game alot (I'm unemployed) and I have to say that the Mesmer -profession can be quite a challenge. It can be incredibly rewarding but also really frustrating from time to time. Because of your AL 60 armor it feels sometimes that you're the enemies number one target. If you're in the wrong place during a battle all the rangers and spellcasters attack you at the same time and you might end up dead in a blink of an eye. Might be clever to start using a bow to start battles when doing quests with henchmen

But the thing with mesmers is that you can be the biggest pain in the butt with all the annoying spells and skills. For example (in PVE) use Diversion on an assassin when you think he's about to attack and the next skill he uses takes nearly a minute to recharge. If that skill was his lead attack you ruined his dagger skill -combos completely. Or just use Spirit Shackles on them (or against Rangers) and they lose 5 energy every time they attack. Continue with Energy Burn and/or Energy Surge and in a few seconds they have zero energy... Of course there might be characters who remove hexes but most of the time simple strategies like these work nicely.

With all the skills there are huge amount of build combinations that you can use. You can take a supportive role by removing hexes from your allies and removing enchantments from enemies and interrupting their spells. Interrupt two spells using Echo or Arcane Echo and Power Leak and target foe has lost up to 52 energy... Or you can pretty much consentrate on dealing damage. There are skills for that too. For example if your party's tank has hexes on him use Echo or Arcane Echo and Shatter Hex and everyone near him suffers up to 256 damage, in less than two seconds...

There are just so many things you can do: steal random spells from target foe for nearly 30 seconds, borrow an elite skill from your party member for 20 seconds, prevent target foes from using their elite skills or signets, prevent warriors from gaining adrenaline, shut down target foe's whole skill bar for up to 6 seconds (with Echo you can do it three times in a row and target foe can't use any of his skills for up to 18 seconds). It takes thinking and planning to come up with a good build for a certain situation. It helps if you know what kind of enemies you're going to face and what kind of skills they use. I read GuildWiki quite often to get information about different enemies and the skills they use. Sometimes Domination Magic seems to be the best and in some areas consentrating on Illusion Magic seems to give the best result. There are so many possibilities.

Even though Mesmers can be very useful you still find yourself quite often in a situation where people seem to think that you can't bring anything to a party. If you're in a full party and people deside that one more monk is needed, guess who's gonna get kicked out, even though there's like three or four warriors in the party? Or someone is looking for a party and is asking people to invite themselves. Somehow you just don't seem to be accepted...
But no worries, there are people who will gladly have you on their team and sometimes they even ask if you can equip certain skills.

warrior for farming. every account should have a warrior I think. Be female ; ] too many male warriors out there!!

If you have good reflexes, interupting is really fun to do. Cast a little cry of frustration and get the monsters to swear at you lol. Mesmer can be great fun but so can an assasin warping to the back line and taking down all the casters.

It all depends on what you enjoy doing. I have all 3 of those chars.

you can make them all...play them for a bit and then delete them if you are not happy with them----thats the beauty of this game!
(mesmer is my choice, but then again I have one---she was my 3rd character after my ele and necro, and I dont have a warrior--yuk!)
for a challenge make a monk---you can deal damage as smite and heal and protect, and everyone will always want you in a pug!

As stated above there are a lot of pros and cons to each class. Think for yourself what you like to play. For instance if you liked playing your necro as a curse one, you probably like the mesmer play-style. If you played your necro as a MM, you probably want to play warrior first (no offense but MM is easy to play and most of all, always the same, just like the warrior).

I see your necro was a N/Me so you already played around with mes skills it prbly wouldn't be as fun as something new sucha as assasin or warrior I love mes but you already use it as a secondary so i would say go with one of the others

Assassin is the least wanted class in any group. regardless how good you play it. it took a lot of time and dedication to master the way of Assassin. but once you master it, you will see just how amazing it is in a group. killing those annoying caster in the back of agrro is really fun and big help to the group.

As for Mesmer, they are one of the most hated enemy foe for their capibility of interupt and massive degen ( accumulative pain + conjume Phantism, + comjume nightmare / illusion of pain , OMFG my health is all gone) however, due to the lack of good player in PvE, they are underrated against NPC foe too, but more popular then Asassin. Female Mesmer can be super hot and sexy too

Warrior, solo-er, farmer and the member of Holy-Trinity. they are taugh, deal good amount of damge and easier to play. however, they have the most expansive equipment of all class (100K+ x Ecto for a perfact sword or Axe, WTF!, max armor, rune of sup. Vigor, Sup asorbance. shield.....). 1 problem is: there are too many good tank out there.

A warrior. I agree with another poster up above stating that every account should have 1 warrior.
